During the monsoon period in Uttara Kannada there will be heavy rains due to which there will be complaints of roadside drain blockages, and other rain-related complaints. The UK Nagar Mobile App and control room management system were introduced to help users report and resolve these issues efficiently.
Uttara Kannada, also known as North Canara, is a district in the Indian state of Karnataka. During the monsoon period, i.e., from June to September, there are heavy rains; consequently, this often leads to roadside drain blockages, stormwater issues, tree falls caused by strong winds, and other rain-related complaints. Therefore, to effectively solve these user problems, we suggested developing a mobile application along with a control room management system.
Keeping users in mind, we decided to develop an application with mobile number registration, along with automatic fetching of the user’s current location. Moreover, users can post their complaints through the app with supporting images and videos. As a result, all complaints will be listed in the control rooms for further action on the reported issues. In addition, users will receive timely notifications from control rooms regarding the status of their reported complaints.
Outcome of proposed solutionWe developed the smartphone application so that the public can download the application on their smartphone and lodge their complaints through the application along with the photo or video. To address the complaints round the clock the municipality set up a control room, a dedicated phone number and deployed the task force team. The task force team will be headed by the Municipal Commissioner. The complaint will reach the corresponding area task force team head instantly along with the GPS location of the complaint and also to the control room. Each action on the complaint can be visible by the users.
